Christmas Home Decor

Christmas time is here! With all the stress of shopping and scheduling gatherings, it brings along a sense of calm, and a sense of joy.  I’m not sure what it is but I will say the decor alone will put you in a happy mood and I absolutely love decorating for Christmas every year!  When it comes to Christmas decor I’m very traditional.  I don’t go for crazy colors or anything like that.  I love my green tree with all silver and gold ornaments and just pops of red here and there! Every year I say I will get a flocked tree but I run out of time…..Next year though!  In other words King of Christmas, if you want to sponsor me…hit me up! HINT HINT!

"Some Christmas tree ornaments do more than glitter and glow, they represent a gift of love given a long time ago."

- Tom Baker

Christmas Decor, traditional christmas tree, red gold and silver tree christmas theme

when I start decorating

Christmas décor can take a lot of work so I literally start November 1st.  Just as I like to celebrate Halloween season for two months, why not enjoy Christmas for 2 months too?!  I also love having all of my Christmas decor up by the time Thanksgiving is here.  I feel like Thanksgiving is like the pre-game to Christmas and there is nothing better than having your Thanksgiving guests enjoy the warm cozy holiday vibes in your home!  The process of decorating also takes me about a week or two so I need to start early anyway.  I usually handle doing the inside of the house and my husband also starts doing to outside around the same time as well.

I also limit my Christmas décor to the main area of my house that guests will see, such as the entryway, living room and dining room.  I typically don’t decorate bathrooms or bedrooms.  I feel like it’s a bit much and it’s a lot of work honestly.  In order not to get overwhelmed I try not to go overboard.  The only Christmas décor I have upstairs are two additional Christmas Trees.  One is in the media room located off our master bedroom and another tree is on the landing at the top of our stairs.  Other than that I don’t really decorate the upstairs.

How cute is this cute little gold tree?!? Target got me again as soon as I walked in!  These were in the bullseyes playground area as soon as you walk in and I had to grab two of them for my mantle! They had three different sizes and this was the medium size.  I think they were only $3 but such a perfect find!  The red candle holder was one of the 3 wick Christmas candles from Bath and Body Works.  I bought it a few years ago and just kept the container and now I use it for votives or tea lights.

My Gold ceramic house is the from Bath and Body Works and it’s the 2017 Christmas house luminary.  It holds a 3 wick candle and looks so pretty especially when the candle is lit.  These luminaries are really hard to get.  They don’t come out at every store anymore and for the stores that do get them they usually only get one.  Sadly they sell out online almost immediately and people resell them online for triple the price.   My snowman candle holder is from this years Bath n Body Works holiday line.

Christmas Decor, Christmas Nativity

the nativity

Growing up Catholic, having a Nativity out during Christmas was a big tradition.  After all is is the reason we celebrate Christmas.  I absolutely love this Nativity set because my mom passed it down to me.  I think it was originally my grandmother’s Nativity but it’s absolutely beautiful and I always put it out in front of our fireplace.  After all, I have to make sure the Holy Family stays warm!

Making spirits bright

Of course I decorated my entryway table for some fun festive holiday “spirits.”  Remember this post about my Halloween Bar Table?  Well of course as soon as Halloween was over this was one of the first areas I decorated for the Holidays.  Having a Christmas Bar Table is a must if you plan on hosting holiday gatherings.  What better way to greet your guests at the door than with a holiday cocktail!

At the end of the day holiday decorating can get overwhelming and pricey.  The biggest tip I can give you when it comes to holiday/ Christmas décor is stick to the same theme or color scheme every year.  Find something you love and don’t deviate otherwise every year you will be starting from scratch.   Since I stick to traditional silver, gold & red each year I only buy a few small things to add to my collection that way I don’t end up overspending.
